Crowns & Bridges
Crowns and bridges are dental restorations used to repair and replace damaged or missing teeth, restoring function, aesthetics, and oral health. Here’s an overview of each:
- Dental Crowns
- Crowns, also known as caps, are custom-made restorations that cover the entire visible surface of a tooth above the gumline.
- They are used to strengthen and protect weakened or damaged teeth, restore their shape and size, and improve their appearance.
- Crowns are typically recommended for teeth that have undergone root canal therapy, have large fillings, are severely decayed or fractured, or require cosmetic enhancement.
- They can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal alloys, or a combination of materials, depending on factors such as location, function, and aesthetic preferences.
- Crowns are fabricated in a dental laboratory based on impressions taken of the patient’s tooth and are cemented into place by the dentist once they are ready.
